Association Monthly Update

Association Monthly Update

By Casey Czarnowski

CCSA Region 1 Director

July is always an exciting month for the California Central Service Association, and 2019 was no exception!

We enjoyed great success at our 34th Annual Conference and Vendor Exhibit at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas.  We hosted attendees from 5 states and 2 countries, with total attendance up 17% from 2018.  Among our 42 vendors were some of the leading names in sterile processing and central service, along with new members of the community.  Our internationally renowned speakers excited and inspired the attendees.  Topics included IFUs, reprocessing science, biofilm, infection prevention, and department leadership.  The conference offered CE credits for IAHCAMM, the CBSPD, and AST.

At our Annual Conference, awards were given for Vendor of the Year to Surgical Instrument Service Company (SIS).  The CCSA Shining Star Award was given to MaryAnn Carig from Kaiser Permanente San Diego Medical Center, with deep appreciation.

In Board of Directors business, we have many exciting ideas involving social media, and educational offerings to the CS/SP professionals of California and beyond.  We are pleased to have on our Board the experience of Rebecca Taylor Alvino, RN, MS, CNS, CIC, CNOR as our Infection Prevention Advisor, and Gene Ricupito, CRCST, CHL, CFER, PMP as our Consultant.

We currently have two events scheduled for the upcoming months:

  • A One Day Seminar, Workshop & Facility Tour for Central Service/Sterile Processing Professionals on Saturday, September 14 at the Bioseal Manufacturing Plant in Placentia, California
  • A One Day Seminar for Central Service/Sterile Processing Professionals on Saturday, October 26 at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, California

Information and on-line registration for these events can be found at our website: www.CCSA1.com
